Psalms 110:1
WLCR: Nėum Yahweh lȃ Ȧdỏnī: “Šẹv li yėmīnī, ắd ạšīt ỏyėveyķạ hȧdỏm lė ragleyķạ.”
Deviation scores of the whole verse text (if the verse is missing completely): ·DECLARED³₁ [or ·DECLARATION³₁ ·OF₀] ·YAHWEH³₁ ·TO₁ ·MY³₁ ·LORD³₁: ·SIT³₁ ·ONTO₁ ·MY³₁ ·RIGHT³₁ ·SIDE₀, ·UNTIL³₁ ·I³₁ ·WILL₀ ·SET³₁ ·YOUR³₁ ·ENEMIES³₁ ·AS₀ ·STEPSTOOL³₁ ·FOR₁ ·YOUR³₁ ·FEET³₁.
“Nėum” is apparently an archaic verb, “he declared”, whose form differs from other verbs in hebrew language. Because of the untypical (and a bit uncertain) nature of this word, I have not given deviation points for form-faithfulness, if this word is translated as a noun in genitive structure (“the declaration of”), or if a different tense is used than the past tense.
Main thoughts in this verse:
A) God spoke or gave a word to “my Lord”. 3 points: this thought is not mentioned. 1 point: “my Prince” instead of “my Lord”. / Lord (God) and “my Lord” are the same word in translation, without a difference in text style (e.g. small caps), and without giving any indication that these two similar words mean different things. / A “promise” or “affirmation”, instead of a more neutral expression “said”.
B) Sit (or stay) on my right (hand) side, until I will do something. 4 points: This thought is not mentioned, and the timing is not defined either. 2 points: “Wait for my right hand.” (“Stay at my right-hand side” would be an accepted translation.) 1 point: Right side is not mentioned clearly (e.g. “right beside me”). / My Lord should sit for an undefined time, or “while” (instead of “until”) these things happen.
C) I will set your enemies as a footstool for your feet. (Deviation points are given for allegorical translations.) 3 points: this thought is not mentioned. 2 points: Neither footstool nor feet are mentioned (or one of these is mentioned in square brackets). / “Those who hate you” instead of “enemies”, and “place to rest” instead of “stool”. 1 point: Footstool is not mentioned. 0 points: Footstool is accepted as a reference to both a stool and feet: “stool for feet”.
Z) Thoughts added by translators. 3 points: Rule as my regent. / Right side is “the highest position in heaven”. 2 points: Right side is the “most important” place, or a place of “highest honor”. 1 point: My Lord is “King” or “Messiah”. / I serve this Master. / Right side is an “honoured place”. / Sit on the “heavenly throne” or “my throne”. / I will gather your enemies together / This happens to “all” your enemies. 0 points: No additional deviation points for “added thoughts” are given to allegorical translations of the expression “I will set your enemies as a stool for your feet”: I will defeat, subdue or humiliate your enemies. / I put your enemies under your control. / I will make them bow low before you. / You will rest your feet on their backs. / They will come and lie down in front of You. (All of these receive deviation points for thought C, however.)
Inconvenient readability of words. 6 points: steeĝing vp stol (stepstool). 4 points: steĝing vp stool / steĝyng vp stool. 3 points: quoth / seide / averring / יהוה [YHWH] / تتراجراماتون [Tetragrammaton] / (my) Lord => Adonay, Adonai, Adoni, Adon, ADOWN / Memra / sitte / ŧou / partyes, parties, partis (side) / vntyll / putte / poote / thyne / ŧyne / thin / ŧin / thi / ŧi / ennemyes / litil / fotestole. 2 points: ŧe / oracle / utterance / affirmation / saith / sayd / sayde / spake / OVR (our) / YHWH / |Yhwh|| / syt / thou / riĝt / ryght / righthande / regent / vntil / vntill / tyme / ŧat / should (will) / Y / thine / thy / footestoole / foot-stole / vnto. 1 point: decree / Lorde / Sovereign One / settle / sitt / unto / my Sovereign / hande / right-hand / righthand / til / place (put) / adversaries / foes / enemyes / enemys / footstoole / litle / feete.
Inconvenient readability of expressions. 6 points: To the Master I serve the Lord’s promise was given, Sit here / for those who hate You will be a place to rest Your feet. 3 points: lead them in on hands and knees / repetition “thy footstool. thy footstool.” / long text in UPPERCASE. 2 points: Said The LORD / until whenever / wait for My right hand / of my riĝt parties (on my right side). 1 point: What the |Lord|| says ... / The word of |God|| to my Lord ... / sit you / at My right (without mentioning side or hand) / set ... stool (without “as”) / inconvenient or insufficient punctuation (DR1610 x2, DR1899A, DR1752C, EBDEAF, GW x2, KJV1611, CTHOMSN, UNFOLDS, WYE139B, WYE1850 x2, WYL1850 x2, WYLMSN).
Inconvenient readability scores for translation LITTRCH. 6 points: Authority-belonged (LORD) / unto-Authority-belonged (to Lord) / of-right-belonged (right-hand side) / unto-if-which ever (until) / to-en-enmitied (enemies) / under-down-unto-which (footstool). 3 points: It-had-said (said) / Thou-should-sit-down (sit) / out (at) / I-might-have-had-placed (put) / of-thee (your) x2. 2 points: unto-the-one (to) / of-me (my) x2 / to-the-ones (to) / of-the-ones (of) / of-feet (feet).
