The hebrew text does not clarify, what the "incident of night" is. There are reasons to believe that it refers to an emission of semen,
but the text does not literally say so. Deviation points are given to translations that explain what this "indicent" is, without clearly
indicating (e.g. with italics) that such an interpretation is not part of the original Bible text.
A double colon :: marks two possible ways to understand the setting that is being described: 1) The traditional and primary reading is
that the person is unclean DUE TO an incident at night. [An incident of this kind always causes a person to be unclean.]
2) An unusual but theoretically possible reading would be that the person is not clean [YET, OR IN THIS CASE] FROM an incident at night.
As if it were possible that a man can sometimes successfully maintain acceptable cleanliness during an incident of this kind, but in this
particular case maintaining cleanliness has been unsuccessful, and he "is not clean from the incident". LEXESEP and the translation samples
T and P offer a possibility for both of these readings.
A literal word-for-word translation of “kiy yihyeh ... wė-yạźā” would be “if will be ... and he will depart”.
In this scenario it is apparent that a relation of cause and consequence is intended: because of what was said afore, the following should be done. The word structure "kiy ... wė" is used idiomatically, in the sense "if ... then" or "when ... then". Idiomatic translations with such meanings have been accepted with zero deviation points for literal and formal accuracy. (In any other circumstances than such obvious cause and consequence, I would give a deviation point for translating “wė” as “then”.)
